| You sell In-Stock and Pre-Order jewelry. How do I shop for just what you have in stock? | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
If you need your jewelry right away, and don't want to wait for a pre-order, you can easily shop for your gauge and see only our products that are currently in stock in your gauge. Here's how.
|
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| How do I check the status of my order? | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
First, CHECK YOUR EMAIL INBOX. Chances are we have already emailed you regarding your order status. If you selected a pre-order or out-of-stock item, we emailed you with an expected ship date. If your order was shipped, we emailed you the day it shipped with detailed shipping information. If you can't find or didn't receive your email (Hotmail AND Road Runner users take note!), click the My Account link in the upper right of all our pages, click on your order number, and read the area called "Store Comments." All of the information regarding your order as described above will be listed there. If you still require further assistance, email us but be aware that it will be one to two business days before you receive a response. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| What do "quantity in stock" and "pre-order" mean? | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
Quantity In Stock The quantity in stock shown on our web site is the quantity available for immediate shipping to you. An order of all in-stock items usually ships within one to two business days. Unless a product is marked as discontinued, you can always order a quantity larger than the in-stock quantity shown. In this case, you will receive a back order notification email with a scheduled ship date for your entire order. This is usually one to three weeks after you place your order, depending on the manufacturer of the item(s). Finding The Quantity in Stock Click on the "See In-stock Items" link. Also, the quantity in stock is displayed once you have made a selection from each of the pull-down menus for attributes such as gauge, size and color. Pre-Order Pre-order means the item you want will be ordered from the manufacturer once you submit a paid order. Pre-order items usually ship within two to five weeks. We also offer pre-order of Halftone, Kaos, Metal Mafia, and Tawapa products; however supplies of these are more uncertain or may not be available at all. Therefore, we make the following iformation available when you add those products to your shopping cart: The item you selected is a special pre-order item which we will order directly from the factory and ship to you as soon as we receive it. Normally, we receive the item quickly; however, there may be a short or extended delay at the factory. Because of this possible delay, please read the following:
Out of Stock means the item you want is normally stocked but we are currently waiting for a new supply from the manufacturer or the product has been discontinued and the particular style you selected is no longer available. Email Me When In Stock! If the "Email Me When In Stock!" link is displayed, you can click it to submit a request to be notified via email when an Out of Stock item is restocked. Availability of In-Stock Items On rare occasions our web site may indicate a product is in-stock when you place your order but the product is actually out of stock. This can happen for any number of reasons, but usually means another customer ordered that product just prior to you and the in-stock numbers on the web site had not yet been updated. In this case you will receive a back order notification email and your entire order will usually ship within one to three weeks. Split Order If your order contains both in-stock and pre-order items, you may choose to have your in-stock items shipped now and your pre-order items shipped once we receive them. There is a nominal charge for this service. You can select the Split Order option when checking out. |

| What is a Card Security Code? | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
The Card Security Code (CSC) is a 3- or 4-digit number printed on your credit
card. It provides added security when you use your card on the Internet or over
the phone. The number appears only on the card itself, not on receipts or
statements. We ask for the CSC when you enter your payment information. This helps ensure that anyone placing an order with SteelNavel.com has the card in his or her possession and is not using a stolen credit card number. For Visa, MasterCard and Discover Cards Turn the card over and look at the signature box. You will find either the entire 16-digit credit card number or just the last 4 digits, followed by the 3-digit CSC. ![]() For American Express Cards The CSC is always located above the account number on the face of the card, sometimes on the left side and sometimes on the right. Note: Some American Express cards have a 4-digit number below the account number. This is not the CSC.

| What is Sale 2.0? | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
Sale 2.0 is an exciting savings opportunity for Steel Navel customers. The quicker you act on the sale, the more money you save. It works like this: If the sale starts at 50%, then the first person to purchase a Sale 2.0 product saves 50%, the second purchaser saves 40%, the third saves 30%, and so on. Sometimes Sale 2.0 items start at 50% off and sometimes it's less. The percentage decrease occurs when you add items to the cart, so add carefully to maximize your percentage off savings. While you are shopping, if you add subsequent items of the SAME product page to your cart, the percentage will decrease as described above. Deleting items will not change the percentage; it will continue to decrease with each item added. So, all that to say, choose your size and color carefully to get it right the first time! The Sale 2.0 ends when inventory runs out, when the percentage discount drops to zero, or at the sole discretion of Steel Navel. |

| How do I order navel jewelry? | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
To choose the best size for yourself depends on a few things. First, which type
of jewelry are you purchasing? Typically, you need captive bead rings a little
bit bigger than bent barbells. Second, is your piercing shallow (not much skin
was taken for the piercing), medium, or deep (a larger pinch of skin was taken
for the piercing)? Third, what is your anatomy? Are you petite with a flat
tummy, larger framed but still with a flat tummy, or do you have a little extra
in the tummy area? Fourth, it would help to know what you were pierced with in
the first place so you know if you want to stay with that, or go larger or
smaller. You can check with your piercer, they should be able to tell you what
they pierced you with. Take a look at our navel piercing page to help you determine the size range for most navel piercings. 14g is the most common gauge. The most common length for a barbell or diameter for a ring is 7/16", but shallow piercings may require a 3/8" and deep piercings may require a 1/2". It's helpful to know what you already have, especially if it fits you well. Some people use a string, a ruler, or another piece of body jewelry as a "model" for their piercing to help them pick the right size. And sometimes you just have to give it your best guess. If you have not been pierced, your piercer will size you for the appropriate jewelry for you. Make sure you get the gauge and length information from the piercer so that when you go to buy jewelry, you know what to get. Take a look at our reference page for more information on how jewelry is measured. There is also information on sizing. |

| How do I order eyebrow jewelry? | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
Eyebrow piercings are typically pierced with captive bead rings, bent barbells,
or straight barbells. Circular barbells may also be worn. For barbells, the most
common gauges for eyebrow piercings are 18g and 16g, although 14g may also be
worn. The most common lengths for barbells are 5/16" and 3/8". For rings, the
most common gauges are 20g, 18g, and 16g, although 14g may also be worn. The
most common diameters are 5/16", 3/8" and 7/16". Take a look at our

| How do I order labret (lip) jewelry? | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
Choosing the right ring or labret depends on how thick your lip/mouth tissue is
where the piercing is placed. It can vary quite a bit from person to person.
Take a look at our
lip and
labret piercing page to help you determine the size range for most lip and
labret piercings. A wide variety of rings and labrets are shown. The first thing you would decide, with your piercer's help, would be what gauge (thickness of the labret shaft). 14g is common, but you can go with 16g or 18g, which are smaller. The length would then depend on how thick the lip/mouth tissue is where your piercing is placed. If you've already been pierced, ask your piercer what gauge and length they pierced you with. It's also helpful to know what you already have, especially if it fits you well. Some people use a string, a ruler, or another piece of body jewelry as a "model" for their piercing to help them pick the right size. And sometimes you just have to give it your best guess. | How do I order nipple jewelry?
|
To choose the best size for yourself depends on a few things. First, which type
of jewelry are you purchasing? Typically, you need captive bead rings a little
bit bigger than barbells. Second, what is your anatomy? Is your nipple area
narrow or wide? Third, it would help to know what you were pierced with in the
first place so you know if you want to stay with that, or go larger or smaller.
You can check with your piercer, they should be able to tell you what they
pierced you with. Take a look at our male and female nipple piercing pages to help you determine the size range for most nipple piercings. 14g is the most common gauge, but you certainly can gauge up. The most common length for a barbell or diameter for a ring is 5/8. The diameter of the ring should be at least 1/4" wider than the piercing. No more than 1/4 of the ring should be through the piercing. The ring should comfortably flip up and down. A ring which is too small in diameter will constrict the piercing and cause the piercing to migrate and scar. The length of the barbell should be 1/8" longer than the width of the piercing to accommodate swelling and potential enlargement of the nipple. The barbell balls should be small enough in diameter so that they do not create pressure against the areola which can cause the piercing to migrate. It's helpful to know what you already have, especially if it fits you well. Some people use a string, a ruler, or another piece of body jewelry as a "model" for their piercing to help them pick the right size. And sometimes you just have to give it your best guess. | How do captive bead rings work?
|
Captive bead rings can be tricky! The bead is dimpled on each
side and is held captive by the tension of the two ends of the ring. For small
to medium gauge rings, you should just be able to release the ball by gently
pulling the ring apart just a teeny bit. Larger gauge rings will take a bit more
effort, and possibly
ring opening pliers.
But be careful when you open rings because you don't want to bend the wire out of shape. Also, the beads will just pop out. Make sure your sink drain is closed! To put the bead back in, just reverse the process, making sure the rings ends are seated in the bead dimples. A lot of people find the bead tweezers very helpful, especially on small and medium gauge rings as they have the smaller beads. If you don't want to purchase tools, your piercer should be able to help you. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| How do segment rings work? | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
Segment rings can be tricky to open, especially large gauge segment rings. The
segment portion of the ring has little "nubs" that fit into corresponding holes
in the ring ends. Segment = male, ring ends = female. Segment rings are actually
more difficult to open than captive bead rings because the ring must be opened a
bit wider to allow the nubs to come out of the ring ends. You can see a photo of
the segment ring parts
here. To open a segment ring, use your fingers or ring opening pliers to gently open the ring just enough for the segment to come free. For larger gauge rings, you probably will not be able to do it without ring opening pliers. We recommend you go to your piercer because they have the tools (so you will not have to purchase them) and they are more experienced at doing it. They may even need to use ring closing pliers to tighten the ring back up a bit. But... the MOST IMPORTANT thing, whether you buy your own tools or have the piercer do it, is to NOT SCRATCH THE RING! Segment rings are more costly than standard bead rings and are quite beautiful. It would be a shame to harm such a ring through carelessness or lack of knowledge. So use ample padding between the ring and the pliers or you will scratch the daylights out of it. Also, do NOT, under any circumstances, use standard pliers. Use only ring opening pliers. To put the segment back in, just reverse the process, making sure the segment nubs are seated correctly in the ring ends. If you plan on changing your segment ring occasionally, you may wish to purchase tools. If you don't want to purchase tools, but need additional help, your piercer should be able to help you. |

| What is external threading? What is internal threading? | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
Externally threaded barbells have threads on the OUTSIDE of the barbell. So the ball has the threading on the inside. Most small gauge and most medium gauge jewelry is externally threaded. Internally threaded barbells have the threads on the INSIDE of the barbell. So the ball has a threaded stud that goes inside the barbell. When you start moving into the bigger gauge barbells, internal threading provides greater comfort and cleanliness. Take a look at threading styles here. | What is the actual gauge size of Gorilla Glass brand body jewelry
|
The gauge (thickness of the jewelry) of Gorilla Glass brand body jewelry is measured in millimeters instead of the traditional gauges. The gauge choices we provide on our product pages are the nearest equivalents to the millimeter gauge. And the millimeter conversion shown next to the gauge choice on our product pages is the equivalent of that gauge not the actual millimeter size of the gorilla glass jewelry. Also, please be aware that Gorilla Glass body jewelry is all hand made and slight variations in size are normal. Use the following table to determine the actual millimeter gauge size of all Gorilla Glass brand body jewelry. Pay special attention to the 000 gauge and 7/16" gauge which appear to be the same millimeter size on our product pages, but are actually 10mm and 11mm:
